Well-strategized approach to preserve environment and rural communities by promoting Organic Farming Methods in different parts of the country.
Introduced in 2009, the key focus area of the program is to promote organic farming. The program recognises & felicitates farmers who follow best practices in organic farming and set a precedent for others. Farmers are being awarded under various categories for their work and get a chance to win State Best Award (cash prize of 2L) and District Best Award (cash prize of 50,000) each to the 14 districts along with 28 consolation awards. Akshayasree also recognizes and provides awards under the category of – Terrace Vegetables, Kitchen Garden, Best Women Award, School/college students & institutes who have done notable work in the field of organic farming, medicinal plants garden & Veteran Award (for farmers who are 70+ years and still follow best practices in organic farming).
An evaluation report on the impact of Akshayasree Program on the farmers, and to the society was conducted in the year 2009 by Kerala Agricultural University.
