Fellowship in collaboration with TIFR for promoting cross border interactions between researchers

About Us

SFPI fellowship is a collaboration with Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), a National Centre of the Government of India.  It is part of a TIFR general purpose Endowment Fund to promote flexible funding of new initiatives at the Institute in research activities at the forefront of Science, Technology and Mathematics.

We launched this initiative in 2000. The key goal of this program is to encourage education with a particular emphasis on research in sciences and the public dissemination of the excitement in science and technology. It seeks to encourage the young population to take up careers in science and technology, and foster scientific interactions between the distinguished visitors, their institutions and researchers in India.

This is done in two ways

"Researchers in India need more opportunities to interact and exchange ideas with their counterparts internationally. This fellowship with a reputed academic institution like TIFR will help foster knowledge exchange and intellectual growth."

- Founders Vision

Student Fellowships

Through this Fellowship many research students selected by TIFR travel and meet with their counterparts in other labs outside India and expand their scientific network and collaboration. They have opportunities to present their papers in international forums and collaborate with teams abroad on problems of common interest.

Eminent Visitor Program

We have brought in very eminent scientists from across the world to India to deliver lectures at different academic venues. The key goal of this program is public dissemination of the excitement in science and technology, to encourage the young population to take up careers in science and technology, and foster scientific interactions between the distinguished visitors, their institutions and researchers in India.
